“And we all, with unveiled face, continually seeing as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are progressively being transformed into His image from [one degree of] glory to [even more] glory, which comes from the Lord, [who is] the Spirit.”

My hubby is often making comments as we take our hikes through the woods, about the wonder of how the rock formations are, formed.
It’s just amazing, to both of us, how something as hard as rock, can be hollowed, or take on a different shape by the years of water erosion and other elements.
I was fascinated by it recently, while we were driving through what looked like a mountain “tunnel” on our trip to Arkansas. So I asked, “Did someone just blow this up in the middle, to put a highway through here?”
“Yes,”He said, briefly, (to my fifteen hundredth question,) on a five hour trip. Poor guy.
Anyway, I learned that explosives can be used to bring about rock formations, but the formations I’m focusing on today are the ones that take more time.
The kind of Transformations that happen from glory to glory. Like the above scripture says.
That’s the formation that God is seeking to make in us.
Yes, I’m sure, like me, you may long for one great big explosion to make you bear the image of Christ, once and for all, but God chose for us to conform to His likeness through time spent with Him, in His Word, and in our every day lives.
The more time we spend looking at Him, the more we start looking like Him.
Our lives, like the rock formations, have their own originality, and beauty only a master architect could design.
Through the storms of life and the trials of fire, our lives take on new shapes that become displays of God’s Grace.
The hardness of our hearts become pliable as we allow the water of God’s Word to continually erode all the error.
This process takes time.
If you’re struggling today by the overwhelming thought of conforming to Jesus, just know my friend, that it’s not an explosion. God is conformimg you one testimony at a time.
As you take your test with the answers of God’s Word, you are conforming.
I’m Thanking God this afternoon, as I’m looking back to all the times that I’ve seen God move “mountains” in my life, and realizing that Yes, some have been explosive, but the majority of my monuments come from the steadiness of time and truth, through the trials.
The river of His Word, is running through the rocky, hard places- Molding and making something in me that wasn’t there before.
I’m sure you’ve all heard the diamond analogy, but it’s a good one and Worth taking a look at again.
You probably know that a diamond is still a part of the rock family. Though they appear to just fall from the sky all bedazzled like, there was a process for them to take on their shape and beauty for us to behold.
You, sweet friend, are a diamond in the eyes of your Father. He sees great potential in you. He gave His best to purchase your Rocky heart, knowing that you would be conformed to His Son and bear even greater displays of his glory than the rarest of jewels.
So, I can’t help but tap my toes right now to the “I’m just an old chunk of coal” song…….
“but I’m gonna be a diamond some day!”………
