Sucking in

Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.     1 Corinthians 10:12

My husband challenged me to a Biggest Loser competition yesterday.

Biggest loser?

Apart from the fun of competition with him, I secretly convinced myself that I’ve made huge strides the past couple of years in my running, so why would need a biggest loser challenge to thrust me into a better me?

Isn’t  it funny how we think we are so much better than we are?

(*This is not a Debbie downer message.)

I’m all about celebrating the progress we’ve made, but I tend to celebrate the victories I tell myself about,  that may not always be the same as they appear.

For instance, tonight we put up our Christmas tree.

I told Peyt to grab a phone and snap a quick pic of our cute little family, but when I looked at it, little, wasn’t necessarily how I would have described myself!

Those sweaty pants I told you about a few blogs earlier, have not been as friendly to me as I thought.

“I’ve been sitting on a throne of lies…”-Elf

Then the Holy Spirit counseled me on the matter.

He said, it’s something how the images of what you think you look like in your mind,  are all together different, when the image is displayed without you’re preparing first  to “suck in.”

Oh, come on, we all suck in.

Yes. It’s that put together moment in our lives where we want  people to see what we want  to be,

but what we aren’t, yet.

That picture captured the “real” me, not the sucked in version,  that keeps telling me that a few more chips or a couple extra cappuccinos won’t hurt.

Especially, when I have sweat pants to show off how athletic I am.

So, biggest loser it is.

Maybe, just maybe, I don’t have it all together yet.

Yes, I’m happy for where I’ve come from, but no one ever gets anywhere by stopping or staying in the same place.

The truth is, You never simply stop…. you go backwards.

Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:12-14
