Give us this day Our daily Bread- Matthew 6:11

I so desperately need to practice what I preach.

I find myself, more often than not, wasting my today’s trying to figure out tomorrow.

And you know what? You can’t get to tomorrow until you go through today.

I’m thinking of the people who have hiked the Pacific Crest Trail. My hubby and I watch youtubers vlog about their journey.  I’m fairly certain, that as much as they wish some days,  that osmosis would carry them to the next part, (its a long journey) they find that they can only get there by taking one step forward and then after that, they take another.

We may not be hiking the Pacifuc Crest……yet, (Dust and I plan on doing so when our kids are grown,) but we are on this Adventure with Jesus together,  right?

So this is what I know, according to scripture;

But exhort one another daily, while it is called Today; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. Hebrews 3:13

and,

4 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. Matthew 6:34

Sin? Evil? How could words like this be categorized with taking thoughts for our future?

Well, Do you remember the account about  the children of Israel and the manna?

8 And when they did mete it with an omer, he that gathered much had nothing over, and he that gathered little had no lack; they gathered every man according to his eating.
19 And Moses said, Let no man leave of it till the morning.
20 Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto Moses; but some of them left of it until the morning, and it bred worms, and stank: and Moses was wroth with them.

Exodus 16:18-20

Why was He wroth?

Because they tried to save up. The enemy is always trying to deceive us into taking matters into our own hands. They were trying to provide for their future when God wanted to be their provision daily.

God desires to walk with  us on this journey.

Before Sin, (which by the way originated from this very concept, of living for yourself apart from the Word, or the provision of God,) Adam and Eve walked with God.

You will always  find the character of God in the original intent of His will. He created mankind to reign and walk with  Him.

Jesus Restored that order by modeling it for us as He walked the earth. He constantly spoke of how the Father was with Him;

And He that sent me is with me: the Father has not left me alone; for I always do those things that please Him. John 8:29

Jesus would often resort by Himself to pray. So when the disciples asked Jesus How to pray, a portion of what He told them to ask for was daily bread.

Jesus had to get away with the Father to find what He needed to do on a daily basis. So why wouldn’t we?

Every day of our lives, God has fresh bread for us. The very Word that we will need to navigate our circumstances within that day.

Although God’s Word is effective at all times, there will be a New Word for a New day.

Today, we need to ask for our bread, Thank Him for it and Enjoy Every minute of This day as we walk With Him and with each other.
