“For to us a Child shall be born, to us a Son shall be given; And the government shall be upon His shoulder, And His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
ISAIAH 9:6 AMP http://bible.com/1588/isa.9.6.amp
While on our way to my Grandma’s this Christmas Eve, I thought of all the traveling that was taking place at that very moment. I even “journeyed” back in my mind to all of the traveling that would have been going on the night of our Savior’s arrival.
People, just like us, we’re headed to and fro, taking part in a census and dealing with the stress of tax season, also, just like us.
It occurred to me, that the Prince of Peace was born right smack dab in the midst of chaos, not into the absence of it.
So many times I find myself awaiting the arrival of Perfect Peace in the absence of chaos-
Thinking that all is well when all is calm.
But God showed us what Peace looks like in the midst of chaos.
He chose to send His Son, the Light of the World, through a baby, in a manger, in a mess, during the most hectic and I’m sure dreaded seasons of all.
Why?
So that we would Know Peace.
Knowing Jesus is Knowing Peace, no matter what our circumstances look like.
As Mary held that baby, even in the midst of inconvenience and chaos, The Prince of Peace was reigning over her heart, and to the rest of them that beheld Him.
As we hold Jesus dear to our hearts this morning, it doesn’t matter what may be going on around us, The Prince of Peace is reigning over us and in us, keeping all things calm and bright.
Merry Christmas from my family to yours.
*Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Isaiah 26:3
Merry Christ mas.
