Spinning my wheels

God has taught me so much through the movies my kids watch.

He will teach us wherever, however, if we are attentive.

I’m reminded today of Lighting McQueen in the movie Cars. (One of Isaac’s favorites)

As I was reading John this morning where;

“Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.”
‭‭John‬ ‭4:10‬ ‭KJV‬‬ https://www.bible.com/bible/1/jhn.4.10.

I was thinking back to Doc Hudson and the young, immature and even cocky, Lightning McQueen.

If He had only known… the gift of Wisdom that Doc had to offer.

This resonated with me when I watched it the last time and again this morning.

We get into such a mess by what we think we know.

We have a higher estimation of ourselves than what we would like to admit.

At least, I do.

But the movie goes on,

and just like the woman at the well, came to know that Jesus wasn’t just some ordinary stranger, all up in her business,

Doc Hudson was also a blessing in disguise.

He had “been there.”

Lightning was so fascinated with himself and the race for fame, that he was totally unaware of His need for Wisdom and the friendship of others.

Doc reminded me of how God will let us spin our wheels until we come to the end of ourselves, because most of the time, even when He does try to help,

or point out our shortcomings,

we blaze on by Him.

Lightning finally came to realize His need and dependance for the Legendary Racer and the friends he had found,

while being what seemed,  right smack in the middle of no where.

What appeared a total set back , was actually a set up for true success.

If we only knew….

We need God, and we need each other.

Father, you’re Amazing. What I love most about you today is your relentless pursuit of us.

Even when it seems that we’re in no man’s land, you’re there waiting for us. Not to set us back, but to set us up.

Help us see what we really need.

Like that woman at the well, help us understand quickly that Jesus doesn’t want to just get up in our stuff to condemn us, but to make us whole.

He is living water. Refreshment and Vitality.

Help us make Godly relationships that will encourage us and build our lives with you and each other.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
