King of “I don’t feel like it”

Wherefore in all things it behoved  Him to be made like unto His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

For in that He Himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour  them that are tempted. Hebrews 2:17-18

Yesterday I was tired.

I have been running longer distances lately, in accordance with what I believe God is coaching me to run,

but yesterday  my excuses surmounted,

and they were legit.

I didn’t feel like it.

Mostly because I chose two plates of fries doused in ranch dressing.

It seems ridiculous to even compare this to what our Lord faced that day in the Garden, and then went on to face on the cross,

but the Holy Spirit, ever so gently, spoke this to my heart yesterday when I debated whether I should listen to what I knew I should do,

or what I felt.

“Jesus is the KING of doing what He didn’t feel like doing.” He reminded me.

No matter what it is,

that you and I don’t feel like doing…

for me, it was a task of obedience to run,

calling me up higher,

which may seem insignificant to you if you’re facing the decision to forgive someone who’s cheated you,

or to believe God’s Word about Healing when your body is feeling something totally contrary to it-

but a feeling is a feeling,

and the Holy Spirit wants to point us to our King,

who has more than surpassed what we could be feeling right now.

He chose to do what Our Father told Him to do.

He has been there and bought the T-shirt.

Then He handed us the shirt,

only for us to put it on also,

not hang it in the closet.

😬

Grace is to be the adornment of our lives. Not something we hang up, and look at every once in a while as we sing the tune.

So,

Praise Jesus, by His example and Grace,

I ran.

And faster than the time before.

I can assure you of this,

both by Jesus example and what He accomplishes in my life,

that Our Father is never asking something of us,

though challenging at the moment,

that will not produce VICTORY in our lives.

Cheers to the KING of my Victory-

King over I don’t feel like it!
