“The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.”
Isaiah 40:3 KJV
Yesterday, I spent the majority of the day preparing for our new family member;
That’s her,
The Furry One.
Yes, We spent two and a half hours (one way) to pick up Annie Grace,
after spending the earlier portion of the day making sure we had what we thought she would need.
So, as I’m reading through my Daily Bread this morning,
preparation is the Word for me, confirmed.
The Holy Spirit began to minister this to me a few days before Thanksgiving, as I thought on the multitudes who were probably “Martha-ing” to get their homes tidy-
and in entertainment mode for their special guests.
Then I thought on One Special guest in particular and wondered if He feels Welcome and treated respectfully in my Home.
I’m not talking my physical abode-
decked with brick and shutters, I’m talking about His Habitation in me.
Then I began to ponder on the clutter I really don’t want Him to sit around in.
Not the old magazines and knick knacks, but the bitterness and unforgiveness.
Instead of a hard sofa, is He spending time seated on a hardened heart?
As I took inventory of what needed to be done to prepare, it seemed overwhelming.
Just like my preparation for Annie to arrive.
But Grace took over for us, yesterday
Like He always does, and always will.
When you put your heart to the task, He sees to it that you are more than able to perform it.
For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. Philippians 2:13
Making the path straight, I believe, simply means to put your hand to the plow in the right direction,
and then Grace will motorize your efforts.
Literally everything “they say” would happen while we were bringing home our new puppy never happened.
Not only did she get here safe and sound, (accident free in our car did that long) but she ate her food, played real hard with all of us and then hit the sack with not so much as a whimper!
Only the anointing does something like that.
She’s a true picture of what a Grace looks like.
She left Egypt and isn’t going back!
No wilderness season for our doggie.
She entered the Promised Land like she’s been here all of her life… looking for the next provision and treat.
I encourage you today, Prepare the way….
If the Lord has never moved into your house,
Make today the day.
(Romans 10:9-10)
What a Guest He is.
If He already Abides in you,
ask the Holy Spirit,
your interior decorator and designer-
what changes need to be made that would make His stay most enjoyable.
Let’s make our residence for the King all that He deserves.
Great Truth today. Needed this. Thank you!
