For so it is in the body of Christ. For though we are many, we’ve all been mingled into one body in Christ. That means that we are all vitally joined to one another, with each contributing to the others. Romans 12:5
As I stood, reading this with my daughter, I was given the image of what would happen, if every time one of our body parts offended us, we just cut it off.
I got a vivid picture.
What about you?
Can you see the problem?
It would be pretty hard to walk or pick something up.
Or maybe even smell something,
if we just keep whacking at the parts that annoy us.
Not to mention, we may think we are really “showing our parts”
by whacking at them,
but it would hurt us too.
Yet, how often are relationships severed because of offenses.
Jesus actually said this would happen.
In the last days.
Yes, it’s part of that list of things Jesus told his disciples to look for when they questioned the signs of his coming.
Matthew 24:9-12
Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name sake.
And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another,
And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
Being offended is the precursor to deception.
Ask me how I know….
But Praise God for His Parts.
He sends out his army to find us.
And then we become part of the army who finds others.
The enemy will attempt to get you to isolate.
But just like someone who has lost their arms and legs,
when you cut off your parts,
it leaves you susceptible to an attack.
God made us to need each other.
And to feed each other.
I want to encourage you today to allow God to heal those parts of your life that are wounded.
I heard Jesus speak softly to me today, like He did two thousand years ago,
“Forgive them Father, they know not what they do.”
That’s the intense forgiveness that saved my life.
He pardoned me.
That’s the same intense forgiveness He wants me to show to others.
