King Lemuel’s royal words of wisdom: These are the inspired words my mother taught me. Listen, my dear son, son of my womb. You are the answer to my prayers, my son. So keep yourself sexually pure from the promiscuous, wayward woman. Don’t waste the strength of your anointing on those who ruin kings— you’ll live to regret it! For you are a king, Lemuel, and it’s never fitting for a king to be drunk on wine or for rulers to crave alcohol. For when they drink they forget justice and ignore the rights of those in need, those who depend on you for leadership.
But you are to be a king who speaks up on behalf of the disenfranchised and pleads for the legal rights of the defenseless and those who are dying. Be a righteous king, judging on behalf of the poor and interceding for those most in need.”
Proverbs 31:1-9 TPT
This is the first portion of the infamous chapter about he Proverbs 31 Woman,
But we often overlook the fact that this chapter is actually about the Proverbs 31 WOMEN.
The chapter starts out with a King referring to His Momma’s timely and perfect wisdom and Advice.
As I’m thinking of Mother’s Day, I can’t help but think of the Father as well.
Every Day is Father’s Day.
All I see, touched, and held by His Hand, and yet He created Mother’s as the crown of it all.
Look back to Genesis.
Although when the Scripture speaks of the Spirit of God, it always ascribes Him, as a He, I think of the Motherly qualities of His comfort and support.
That’s what I think of in my Mother.
She’s a supporter.
She’s rarely ever not come quickly when I call.
And I can’t think of a time when I’ve called and not gotten an answer.
Look at what the scripture says of the Spirit of God.
Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. John 16:7
That Word “Comforter” means this;
parakletos
-
summoned, called to one’s side, esp. called to one’s aid
-
one who pleads another’s cause before a judge, a pleader, counsel for defense, legal assistant, an advocate
-
one who pleads another’s cause with one, an intercessor
-
of Christ in his exaltation at God’s right hand, pleading with God the Father for the pardon of our sins
-
-
in the widest sense, a helper, succourer, aider, assistant
-
of the Holy Spirit destined to take the place of Christ with the apostles (after his ascension to the Father), to lead them to a deeper knowledge of the gospel truth, and give them divine strength needed to enable them to undergo trials and persecutions on behalf of the divine kingdom

That sounds a lot like the qualities of a Mother.
We are created in God’s image.
His likeness.
I’m not talking about gender here, I’m talking about qualities.
I know a lot of people this morning who are seemingly mother-less on Mother’s Day,
But I want this note to encourage you, if you’re part of that group.
You have a Father, who sent His Own Spirit to comfort, support, and Strengthen you.
He gives wisdom, far beyond that of the King’s mother.
And as for this momma, I’m in desperate need of that.
You may have read my post on wanting to be like “Momma Bear,” from the Berenstein’s, but coming off more like “Gru” from Despicable Me!
But, the Comforter,
Said to me, as I was mowing the grass the other evening,
(One of those seemingly mundane things that Mother’s do)
I’m sending you on Mission “I’m-Possible.”
The disciples asked Jesus, after weighing the reality of our own inadequate nature,
“Who then can be saved?”
Or how can anyone do this?
And Jesus responded,
With men, it’s impossible, but with God,
All things are possible.
Dear Ones,
That makes all of us “I’m–Possibles!”
Happy Mother’s Day.
