What’s the Dill

I’ve had so many intentions to write to you-

about what God has shared with me lately….

But as you can see,

I’ve been up to my ears in dill.

And all the other herbs that I’m in the process of harvesting.

But I learned something about myself today, as I had my daughter look me up a recipe for fresh dill dip.

It’s that I don’t really care about the writer’s dog, cat and children’s school activities,

How many teeth they’ve recently lost and where they are planning on going to college…

Just skip to the recipe, please!

So, I can be honest with myself,

As I wanted to tell you that I do care,

That I just simply don’t have the time…

But really, I can say what I want…

I know the real reason…

It’s in those Toby Keith lyrics..

Playing in my head….

“Enough about you, enough about I, enough about number one, oh my me my, what I think, what I like, what I know, what I want, what I see…

Oh I like talking about you, you, you, you,

but occasionally,

I just want the recipe!

It’s like I can’t wait to see those numbers that let me know how long the cook and prep time are…

I know a list of ingredients are to follow.

So, Father, am I selfish?

Just wanting something from someone and not taking the time to hear them out?

Maybe I’m in such a hurry that I’m missing a lot of what God could show me?

Or today,

Here is my heart….

Paul said;

For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. 1 Corinthians 2:2

I want to set my heart, to start loving you as I love myself…

Straight to the recipe.

Obviously you’ve looked at the title of these blogs to want to know more about what God is serving you through me.

My “recipes” aren’t my own.

They are His.

And really, nothing I say or do, is of any benefit to you without Him.

So, what was my “dill” today?

I was looking for Joy.

Maybe you are too.

Here’s the recipe;

1.) Joy is found solely in His Presence.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

2.) We enter His Presence through Praise.

However, the reality is, that we are never without His Presence, because He promised to never leave or forsake us.

Worship just makes us aware of His Presence.

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, andinto his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. Psalm 100:4

3.) When we find our Joy in Him, we are renewed with strength.

The Joy of the Lord is our strength.

Again, it’s His Joy, not mine or yours.

I just simply follow the recipe and you can too!

  1. What A Savior. That’s not a surprise to me, but another witness to His Glory. I’m finding more and more that He promised to Never leave or forsake us. What happens to me at times, is the magnifying of the problem, much like Martha. But My Sweet Savior, woos me back to His Feet. In His Presence, I find Joy. His Joy supplies strength. I’m finding that no matter what storm, or how scary the waves, He is Already in my boat. We rise with Him, and just like He called to Lazarus, we bring light to every dark, dead, Situation. Thank you so much for sharing your testimony. It helps us overcome!
