“Jesus looked her in the eye. “Didn’t I tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?””
John 11:40 MSG
I was led to read from John 10 through John 17 a couple days ago.
This morning, I find myself again in Chapter 11.
In it, you’ll see the real Jesus.
I saw the real Jesus last October as I sat in the middle of weeping at my very young cousin’s funeral.
I saw why Jesus got mad.
“When Jesus saw her sobbing and the Jews with her sobbing, a deep anger welled up within him. He said, “Where did you put him?” “Master, come and see,” they said. Now Jesus wept.
The Jews said, “Look how deeply he loved him.” Others among them said, “Well, if he loved him so much, why didn’t he do something to keep him from dying? After all, he opened the eyes of a blind man.””
John 11:33-37 MSG
Here we see one of those painted portraits of what people think Jesus looks like.
“If He loves him so much, why didn’t he do something?”
But then keep going.
And you’ll see the real JESUS.
And his heart.
He was mad at death.
He was mad at how sin had negatively affected people.
He was mad at the situation, not the people.
No, he wept with them.
Experiencing empathy, and then, as He IS,
He rose ABOVE it.
“Jesus looked her in the eye. “Didn’t I tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?””
John 11:40 MSG
When we believe not even death can stop the Glory of God.
Jesus showed up and showed them,
Who He really is.
I AM THE RESURRECTION.
To most, they see Him far off.
In the by and by to save us.
But that day, He opened their eyes,
Like I pray He does our today,
That He won’t be resurrection one day,
But HE IS today.
Today is the day of Salvation.
To raise every dead thing to life.
To restore.
To heal.
To hope.
To believe.
He IS, who He told you He is.
There will always be a painted version of Jesus.
Crafted by other’s thoughts and even maybe their own experience,
But We see Him, for who He really is- by His Word.
He loves you.
He cares.
And He won’t just be someday–
He IS!
