The Stay at Home Disciple

And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.19 Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel. Mark 5:18-20

It’s easy to want to go away with Jesus.

Once you’ve been delivered from the bonds of the enemy,

You don’t want to be anywhere without Jesus again.

But what happens when it looks like the Ministry of Jesus, is taking a different direction,

then what He is telling you to do.

This disciple of Jesus wanted to go,

But the ministry Jesus had for him, was in staying put.

He was the stay at home disciple.

People in his area had only known him to be bound.

To be completely unrestrained, and out of his mind.

Now, He’s completely opposite, and people marveled.

That’s how it should be with us.

Those closest to you, should be seeing a change, when you have truly been delivered.

It’s not what you say that gets the attention of others, it’s what you do.

This man was the worst case scenario of being bound by fear.

The whole region was under this influence.

So much that when Love, Himself, arrived, they were afraid of Him as well.

Faith comes by Hearing and Hearing the Word of God.

This man’s testimony- to his friends and neighbors broke down the walls that the enemy had bound them by.

He was the Seed of Freedom sown in that area.

Let me ask you this, is it easier to go to an area where people don’t know your story-

And tell them about the Goodness of God,

Or stay in an area where people have always known you,

And can now see the deliverance and Goodness of God in your new life?

It may seem more enjoyable to travel with Jesus, but to some He says it’s beneficial to stay at home.

My heart to you is that Jesus May be calling you to a ministry beyond what you can see in your own area of influence.

Don’t get caught up in what seems like He May be doing somewhere else.

Focus on what He has DONE in you, and when you’re caught up in His Goodness and Deliverance, more than in where you’re going next,

People will marvel.
