I’ve been extremely intrigued with this word the past couple of days.
This is how Im seeing it..
underSTANDING, or rather standingUNDER.
Submission is such a key to a life lived in Victory.
I was thinking back to Jesus and the account of how His momma forgot him in the town they had visited.
He was only twelve.
Can you imagine?
She didn’t leave him back at the local diner, she left him in another town!
Although at the time I started writing this, I was relating it more to Jesus, and the willingness in His heart to submit to His parents,
Even though He was rocking the minds of the scholars and religious elite at the time- (whole other message)
My heart is now turned to the revelation of how Mary must have felt.
She was the mother of the King of Everything.
She knew what the Angel had prophesied about this child.
She remembered the miracle birth.
How could she and Joseph possibly misplace, or even worse lose, the Promise to the world?
“And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him. Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover. And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast. And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it. But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day’s journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance. And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him. And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions. And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers. And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing. And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business? And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them. And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart. And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.”
Luke 2:40-52 KJV
Man, I really needed this.
I can so relate to Mary right now.
Frantically looking for Jesus.
I know what’s been said.
I know what was prophesied about the Future of His dwelling with me, but right now it feels as though, I’ve lost Him in translation–
Park with me here a min.
I’m seeing the transition in the translation.
Jesus and His family were used to going to the festival every year.
It was routine, and religious.
Jewish business as normal.
Yet, Chapter 3 of Luke is about to issue in a whole new way.
John begins to go before Jesus and prep hearts to receive Grace and Truth, in exchange for law and judgement.
The world as they knew it, was about to change.
All because of Jesus.
Some thought politically.
Some thought they should still wait for another.
But whatever the beliefs or feelings, this was the season of transition.
That’s what I heard confirmed at the Ministry conference two weeks ago.
“Don’t lose the Word in transition.”
“Guard your heart and mouth.”
The Truth for Mary, despite what she felt, even while looking for him for three days-
Was that Jesus was right where she left Him-
Still working on the Father’s business.
Hallelujah…
What a Glorious Word!
This is a NOW Word, for those with ears to hear.
Even though many feel right now that they’ve misplaced the Word,
He’s right where we left Him-
Working on the Father’s business.
There’s no stopping the Kingdom.
God will find someone to work through.
But let this example of our Master, and His heart of submission, remind you and I of how the Kingdom operates.
Jesus underSTOOD His Mother’s lack of understanding about who He was at the moment.
He simply placed His ministry back under submission for the season.
As He underSTOOD, He grew.
As we underSTAND, He’s growing in us.
I believe He began redirecting and reminding His own family of what His reason of existence was.
Submission is never God’s way of demoting us.
It’s God way of keeping our hearts in the right place at the right time.
It’s God’s hand that does the exalting.
Jesus was and is the King of Glory, but subjected Himself to the earthly authority that God saw fit for Him.
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
In all the hustle and bustle of where We feel We should be spiritually speaking, our calling, our responsibilities,
You know, the things we ponder over and over to make sure we’re in the perfect will of God-
not to mention the onslaught of the worlds demands right now,
We can start to feel like we’ve lost Jesus!
But fear not, retrace you’re steps.
Return to your first love for Him.
You’ll find Him right where you left Him.
Because He never leaves us.
You’ll find Him, and He’ll still be about the Father’s business in your life.
