As I stayed laying in bed this morning,
I asked the Father what was on His heart.
He spoke again, the very same thing He did last night before I went to sleep.
God IS Love.
Oh, that’s nice I thought.
Yes. I agree.
But then when He spoke the same Words to me this morning,
I knew this was something He wanted to concrete in my heart.
Concrete is the foundation of a healthy building.
It lays a foundation.
If you aren’t founded on the Love of God, you’re relationship with Him will crack and crumble.
Not on His end.
Ask me how I know.
The enemy of our soul tries to drive a wedge of question in our minds about the character of our Father when our hopes get disappointed.
When something we’ve prayed for, or thought should go a certain way, doesn’t,
The enemy they hurls an accusation that can shake your building.
Only the Love of God understood and believed, will uphold such things.
I had to do some foundation work in my own life.
It’s not enough, I found, to just check things on the surface.
Shifting boards around won’t change how the foundation is laid.
There is an underlying issue that if left unfixed, will cause the whole thing to cave.
That issue is knowing and believing the Love of God for you, not your love for God.
Those are two entirely different foundations.
God’s Love for you was proven, written and is concrete.
It cannot shift.
Your love for God is finicky, shifting and built on sand.
Until we realize that God is the Author and we are not, we will continue in our attempt to please Him,
When in reality He’s already pleased-
With His own Sacrifice for you.
Reading this today just enforced and drove into my foundation a few more nails of solidity.
“The LORD is my Shepherd [to feed, to guide and to shield me], I shall not want. He lets me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still and quiet waters. He refreshes and restores my soul (life); He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Even though I walk through the [sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort and console me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You have anointed and refreshed my head with oil; My cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, And I shall dwell forever [throughout all my days] in the house and in the presence of the LORD.”
Psalms 23:1-6 AMP
I’ve lived this.
This isn’t just some pretty decoration on my wall-
It’s not just nice–
It’s life to me.
Every scripture has been manifested in my life.
The Lord is My Shepherd.
He leads, feeds and guides me.
He lets me lay down.
I have to tell ya, Brothers and Sisters, I used to be fueled by going full fledge, fighting even harder for the promises-
But I’ve learned, He lets me lay down!
He’s ok, and not only ok, with me resting, but told Martha, the sister who micromanaged,
That He would not take that away from Mary-that
Which was right!
It was right to rest at His feet-
And receive, not keep wearing out to give more of the flesh.
And, as I read this today, He whispered “it’s ok to be blessed and lavished in prosperity.”
It would bother some people to see sheep laying where they should be feeding–
But it’s ok with our Shepherd.
Do you know why?
Because He is MORE THAN ENOUGH.
Our Shepherd doesn’t have a barely get by mentality.
Robert Morris once said,
“Healthy Sheep, produce more Sheep.”
Starving, barely getting by sheep are so focused on not dying, that they can’t reproduce anything.
The only reason in this flock for that, (barely getting by-)
is not believing or abiding in the Shepherd’s provisions.
It’s a limited mentality, not a lack of good provision.
Maybe you’ve heard of the story of the “all inclusive” trip that a man took and ate butter and crackers the whole time.
The food was provided and paid for, but the man’s lack of knowledge kept Him from the best plan.
We’ve got to get to know our Shepherd.
There are benefits!
He leads me beside the still, and quiet waters.
It wasn’t the earthquake, or the wind.
It was the still small voice that provided direction and comfort.
There have been so many times this season where God has led me an alternate route compared to where the mainstream has been going.
The same happened with David.
The whole Israelite camp was mainstream.
But David was led through the wilderness, tending a few sheep.
He heard what God was really saying.
And let’s not forget John the Baptist.
Just because God takes you through the wilderness doesn’t mean you’re separated from Him.
Don’t let what looks like might be the voice of God because of the noise, keep you from Hearing directly from His Heart.
This says, even though, which means highly likely, or despite what I may have wanted it to look like-
I walk THROUGH the valley of the shadow of death,
YOU ARE WITH ME–
We’re going Through, this, Brothers and Sisters.
Whatever this may be at the time.
And He IS with us.
Every step of the way.
If you’re going through something right now-
I encourage you to pause and Worship.
Become aware of His presence, right there with you.
Look up Defender, by Francesca Batistelli.
And sing it like she wrote it just for you.
And then Rescue, by Lauren Daigle.
Those aren’t coincidental songs for this season.
They are His banners of Love, being sung over you.
You’re Precious to Him.
You’re Loved by Him.
I could go on and on with Psalm 23, but then this would be a book , not a blog!
Maybe that’s next!
But for now, let Him lead you- and expound the next few verses,
He loves to do that you know.
And Who better than the Author to show you what He means.
The Lord is your Shepherd.
