You may not be familiar with this scene in the movie Tombstone, but if you are, I hope it paints a picture.
Remember where Wyatt knew that he couldn’t take the fight with Ringo?
And Doc showed up for Him.
That pales in comparison to what Jesus fought for us.
As much as Ringo lie dead to never threaten Wyatt or anyone else again,
So lies our enemy.
The only thing he can use now is a deception that he still has authority over our lives.
That’s why Paul said that we are to reckon ourselves dead to sin.
I’ve talked before about this reckoning.
But something I’ve learned this past season, is that if Jesus did the fighting and the winning-
Why do I show back up to the fight guns a blazin?
The spiritual warfare strategy that most believers are entangled with,
And entangled puts it mildly,
entails fighting a fight that’s already been won.
Again, this is a far cry from what Jesus did, but imagine Wyatt taking the sacrifice that Doc made lightly and still running around defeated and afraid.
Warring with a dead, defeated enemy.
It would have given Ringo a power that he didn’t actually have.
We were called to the fight for our lives.
But Jesus knew we couldn’t win.
“While we were still helpless [powerless to provide for our salvation], at the right time Christ died [as a substitute] for the ungodly.”
Romans 5:6 AMP
So HE SHOWED UP…
“I’m your huckleberry.”
You can just imagine the terror the enemy faced that day.
And, still does.
When you and I wake up in the morning, the devil shutters at what we may find in Christ.
He is always VICTORIOUS.
Brothers and Sisters, the battle is won.
Now we enforce all that Jesus bought back!
Oh How He loves us!!!
