Batteries Included

“Yet grace [God’s undeserved favor] was given to each one of us [not indiscriminately, but in different ways] in proportion to the measure of Christ’s [rich and abundant] gift.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:7‬ ‭AMP‬‬

There’s nothing more frustrating to a child at Christmas or a Birthday, to receive a gift and no batteries.

Even as an adult, your remote control-anything is useless without the batteries.

How many have found themselves frustrated and frantic looking through the house to round up some power?

Our Father is no forgetful or misinformed parent.

He knows that the gifts He gives, require the power to back them,

And so, He gives us Grace with the gifts.

I remember a particular gift, I received a little over six years ago.

His name is Issac.

We wanted Him so much.

So much that the thought of how adding another child to our already busy lives didn’t even cross our minds.

I was working two jobs, and ministering full time.

Our first daughter Peyton, had been extremely graced.

I actually had the Spirit of God draw me out of bed in the middle of the night to prepare me for her arrival.

Great practice for this gal who loved her sleep.

Yet she slept better than any baby I knew.

It was like extra batteries!

When Isaac came along, I questioned whether he came with any batteries at all.

He didn’t sleep well, would not take a bottle, and was a tad on the whiny side.

He required my undivided attention that was already divided into fractions I didn’t think possible.

I can remember one Sat night, having gotten little to no sleep and glaring at the alarm that would go off in no time-

Called to preach that morning,

Thinking Lord, “it must not be your will.”

Then I heard this… “My Grace is sufficient for you and My strength is made perfect in your weakness.”

And then it dawned on me, it’s His Word.

It’s His Revelation of the Word.

His gift. His Grace.

I rested, mentally, in the promise that He would show up and show out whether I felt like I had anything to share or not.

And He did.

He always did,

And He always does.

So, today, I’m almost seven years further, and this resonates even more.

Whatever He’s gifted us to do, He has backed us with the grace to pull it off.

Our batteries were included😉
