Fighting FROM Freedom

“At last we have freedom, for Christ has set us free! We must always cherish this truth and firmly refuse to go back into the bondage of our past.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5:1‬ ‭TPT‬‬

“It’s a free country.”

That takes me back to some of my sarcastic, adolescent years, when I thought I could do or say what I pleased,

but the same statement is thrown around these days, as careless, as my immature mind assessed it as well.

This is a free country.

Those of us that didn’t have to fight for freedom, have taken for granted what it cost in the lives of those who did.

My generation simply walked into it.

But I’m starting to see things differently.

Everything is spiritual for me.

It should be.

I’m born from above, and if you and I are born from above, we are Free.

This is how Jesus walked, as a Man from Freedom.

Knowing who’s He was, and where He was from.

And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world. John 8:23

The first step into Freedom, is admitting that you’re bound.

Without Jesus, you’re in a different world.

It’s called the kingdom of darkness.

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.33 ¶ They answered him, We be Abraham’s seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?34 ¶ Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Just as I suspected, one of the meanings of this word know, is used in the same sense of physical intercourse between a husband and wife.

It’s not just knowing about Jesus, that sets us free.

It’s not just going to church.

It’s not just having grandparents that are preachers.

The fish emblem on your car-

Rather, it’s KNOWING Him.

Connecting with His heart.

As I read on into that passage, it’s clearer to me, just how free we really are.

We are no longer slaves to sin.

Even more so, but I’m getting the image of a Dr, cutting out the area of disease that spreads throughout the body.

It’s a purging.

Sin, in and of itself was wiped out through the sacrifice of Jesus.

So, why is there still so much sinning going on?

Well, Paul said to Reckon ourselves dead to it.

If you were to tell me that we are a free country today, and I were to simply look around me to see if that’s true, we look anything but free.

However, we have a Declaration and a Bill of Rights, that we’re fought for, that say, otherwise.

So, today, both spiritually and physically, we are Free.

Have we reckoned it?

Only then, will we be living from Freedom and not for it!
