Back in the day, when talking about a loved one, you would pull out your purse or wallet to show them a picture.
These days, it’s on a phone for most.
But regardless, of method, you wanted the person you were talking to, to see who you were talking about.
God showed me a picture of Jesus from His wallet the other day, that I’m not sure matched the one in mine:
““Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Come to me. I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis. Simply join your life with mine. Learn my ways and you’ll discover that I’m gentle, humble, easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in me. For all that I require of you will be pleasant and easy to bear.””
Matthew 11:28-30 TPT
I’ve browsed past this picture many times, in fact, it’s the very scripture that drew me out of religion-
But seeing Him as easy to please….
that’s a whole new snapshot.
I know I haven’t seen Him that way, because of how I act.
When we see Him in the right way, it will produce that image in us!
Sad to say, I’m not always that easy to please.
I think I am, but when I’m real,
Am I?
Are you?
But when we look at Him in this image,
We can rest, and trust that He is what He says He is.
And because of that, we can bear that image to others.
As you go about your day, today,
first grab your wallet (The Word) and take out the picture you have of Jesus.
Does it look like what I’m describing?
Or is your photo distorted through what religion has painted of Him?
Is he shaded with demands and impossibilities?
Is it a 5th grade picture of Jesus?
Where you’re still waiting for Him to accomplish something for you?
You need a recent one where He is seated at the right hand of the Father in the Finished works!
The image of Him that you behold is what you are becoming.
