“They said this to test Him, hoping that they would have grounds for accusing Him. But Jesus stooped down and began writing on the ground with His finger.”
John 8:6 AMP
We don’t have to look far for accusations.
Jesus wasn’t even outside of the church.
He was inside, teaching, and soon the accusations started filing in.
But Jesus didn’t argue.
He didn’t react.
He simply responded to the Same Word.
Only His response-
was ligit.
Their logic, in their puffed up state of being, was deflated by the same law they tried to accuse by.
I went back for a double take of how Jesus handled them, and I see Him stooping down-
Humbling Himself to hear-
Catching the Breath of God’s Spirit.
This was the difference between Jesus and most of how I tend to re-act.
Re-act/
Think about it.
It would mean to act in the same way.
That’s my definition by the way.
But responding…is an answer-
To the same Word-
What Moses had said-in the law,
Jesus was the ONLY ONE who could stay standing as an answer to it.
What the accusers meant for evil, only drove home the reality of Jesus being The One.
“However, when they persisted in questioning Him, He straightened up and said, “He who is without [any] sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.””
John 8:7 AMP
By their own words, they couldn’t stand.
But Jesus COULD!
Then I must have missed verse 8-
Look at Love:
“Then He stooped down again and started writing on the ground.”
John 8:8 AMP
Not only did He cover her, He covered them.
He didn’t fight accusations with accusations.
He just caught The Breath of Life, that brought light into darkness,
By HIS WORD.
Sinless He was.
He didn’t drop the standard.
He was fulfilling it.
His righteousness could stand.
And he offered it to all of them.
She received it that day.
They didn’t.
They could have.
The law they lived, and accused by, was meant to bring us to Jesus.
To see that He’s THE ONLY ONE who can fulfill it.
When we step in Him, we become Righteous.
It’s a gift, not a badge for our efforts.
Good and Bad both entered His presence that day.
Only Righteousness stood, not condemned.
“They listened [to His reply], and they began to go out one by one, starting with the oldest ones, until He was left alone, with the woman [standing there before Him] in the center of the court.”
John 8:9 AMP
“Straightening up, Jesus said to her, “Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?” She answered, “No one, Lord!” And Jesus said, “I do not condemn you either. Go. From now on sin no more.” ]”
John 8:10-11 AMP
Did no one condemn you?
Here’s the thing about measuring by the law-
It doesn’t matter how much or how little you think you’ve kept.
He said, He who is without sin-
Throw the first stone.
Not someone who’s sin is bigger or smaller or more justified in one’s opinion.
The law will always bring death.
That was the Standard.
It brought Jesus to death on the cross.
But He was raised by the Power of The Spirit!
As Jesus, caught the Breath of the Spirit, even that day, life came forward and raised her up!
He could have lived in His Righteousness, with the Father, but He chose to forward it to us and all who will receive it.
Let His righteousness raise you to new life today!
