Answer the Call

“He entered into the very world he created, yet the world was unaware. He came to the very people he created— to those who should have recognized him, but they did not receive him. But those who embraced him and took hold of his name were given authority to become the children of God!”
‭‭John‬ ‭1:10-12‬ ‭TPT‬‬

Sunday evening I was undoubtedly, 100% caught up in my flesh.

All I could think about was a stuffed crust, pepperoni pizza with the garlic dipping butter on the side.

While I’m trying to get to it, along with making camping arrangements for my family,

the phone rang.

I see who it is, and assume I know what they want.

They must just be calling to see where I was today and check in on the family.

That’s just the thoughtful person they are.

I’ll call them back I think to myself.

After I have my way with pizza.

Then, comes a knock on my door.

My family, surprised, goes to answer it.

Then, I hear, Chels, “Penny is here.”

Not only had this sweet friend called, but also had tried texting…..to find my address,

So she could BLESS MY FAMILY.

Talk about wanting to crawl under the table.

She had shown up with Issac’s egg basket we had filled for another friend,

Only now it was filled up for my family with apples, caramel and cider!

I’ve thought much on this experience.

First of all, I should never assume I know what the call is about.

Physically or Spiritually.

Communication isn’t based upon assumptions, but rather on truth.

Two, God showed my me how, like my friend, He is relentless to bless us.

Penny tried to call, then text, and finally showed up to knock on the door.

Doesn’t God do the same, and then some?

And to think, I almost missed it.

I shrugged off the call, missed the text, and had my family not answered the door, we would have went without the blessing that day.

Not because the Lord wasn’t willing, but because of my unwillingness to respond.

Jesus showed up to His own.

But many were unresponsive.

Friend, I beseech you, answer the call.

To as many as Receive Him, to them He gives the power to become the Sons of God.
