Hell.
I’m sure this statement is a shocker, but let it be.
I’m a Good News preacher for sure, but this is GOOD NEWS.
I have just been mulling over this thought lately in Thanksgiving.
We are so prone to be led by what we feel we deserve.
Entitlement is rampant in our nation right now and the antidote-
Thanksgiving.
When you and I reflect on what we have, instead of blaming others for what we don’t,
(Which by the way, just like Adam, we blame God indirectly)
We are walking in Truth, and the Truth liberates us.
Freedom comes when we realize that every one of us, was destined for hell, until the Good News about Jesus taking our place was received.
Have we forgotten?
Freedom wasn’t free.
And it tears at my heart to see so many fighting for what they call freedom when we already have it through the Blood of Christ.
It’s the same song and dance that the devil fed Eve in the garden.
The whisper to this generation that we need more to be like God.
For those of us in Christ, we are not only accepted in the Beloved, but complete in HIM.
I would like to say it’s only mainstream.
This entitlement mentality, but it trickles down to our families and friends.
Offenses come from my selfish desires to get what I feel I deserve.
But when I remember that the Goodness of God has already provided the Blessing that I could have never deserved, I am able to extend that same Grace to others.
That’s the balance of the Grace of God.
We deserved hell. God loved us too much to not do something. Jesus agreed to die in our place to give us what Only He deserves.
But now you and I have to believe it.
And then, act like we do.
We show we believe it through Thanksgiving.
It’s our reasonable service.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Romans 12:1
The next time you’re tempted to feel like you deserve better, reason with it.
Talk back to entitlement.
Remind yourself of the gift given to you that you could have never deserved!
